“My Little Girl”
My former stepdaughter Deborah got married last weekend!
My how she grew up! I last saw here about 10 to 12 years ago after my divorce from here mother Becky.
I am still speechless and will add more to this post later but, I wanted to get the pictures I took up on the web for all to see.
Click on the image of Deb and I from a few years back ( She was 7 or 8 then) to see current wedding pictures. Enjoy!

Let’s see… how to describe Deborah’s wedding? It was absolutely beautiful! I liked her right from the “get go†based on the fact that her bridesmaids wore lavender, and well, that’s my favorite. I had only seen pictures of her from when she was a little girl. On those pictures, she appeared to be oh… let’s go with somewhat “Tom-boyishâ€â€¦ I don’t know what I expected when we walked in there, but I was blown away with what a gorgeous young woman she is! Al was immediately dumb struck when he saw her.
We had allowed extra time in our drive from Lansing where we were staying, to Jackson, where the wedding was. We didn’t realize just how easy it was going to be to find the church, so we got there while they were taking the “before†pictures with the bride and the bridesmaids, etc. Travis was hidden away downstairs, in the tradition of not seeing the bride before she walks down the aisle.
No matter HOW much trepidation that Al and I felt before we went there, it was all completely worth it when we saw the look on Deborah’s face when she saw that Al was there for her big day! Her already glowing face just brightened up and she threw herself at Al! If she hadn’t have been wearing that beautiful dress, I’m pretty sure she’d have jumped up and wrapped her legs around him. It was pretty cool.
We were sad (for Deborah) that there is so much anger and bitterness in her family, and that it meant that one of her sisters and her Mother weren’t there for such an important day in her life, but on the other hand, it was good that she didn’t show. I honestly didn’t know how either Al or I were going to react if Becky had been there, and if she’d have said something to either of us that would have upset Al, well, I’d have had to maybe get ugly.
She has already inflicted enough “damage†on Al. Damage that I deal with almost daily. It was because of her, and Vonda before her, (they were best friends at one time… go figure!) that I have to reassure Al, and they also helped to make it so he second guesses his “goodness†at being a Father, both to Ben, and to Andrew, and it makes me INSANE!
I’ve got it SO easy! He’s SO awesome with Andrew, and with Ben as well! And I think he’s finally realized that he IS a good “Daddyâ€, based on the fact that Deborah called him after 10 years, and wanted him to be a part of her very special day. It was really beautiful, and we are SO glad that we could make it there, and make Deborah smile like that!
Can’t wait to get to know her better! She seems like a really awesome young lady, with a good head on her shoulders. We’re looking forward to getting to know her and her new husband Travis better. It was a good thing, all the way around.
